Community Involvement - this is a demo page only

In February 2016 the Van Wyck Brooks Historic District membership voted to rename our  scholarship award in memory of Dottie and Joe, long time residents, active members, supporters and advocates for VWBHD.

A volunteer Scholarship Committee of our members meets to choose recipients from high school students in Plainfield based upon written essays on topics related to community building and civic matters, followed by interviews with finalists. Awards for up to four students in the amount of $1,000 each have been given in past years, with funds coming primarily from the proceeds of our historic house tours and supplemented with fund raising specifically for the scholarship.

The Gutenkauf children, John and Polly, are pleased their parents are being honored in this way, by the neighborhood Dottie and Joe called home for many years.
